Most gaming mice have side buttons that can be programmed to perform certain actions in games. For example, you can program a side button to perform a certain action in a first-person shooter. To program a side button, you will need to have a software driver installed on your computer. Once you have installed the software driver, you can program the side button to perform any action you desire.
To use the side buttons on a gaming mouse, simply press the desired button with your thumb.
You can customize your mouse buttons in the Control Panel. To do so:
1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2. Double-click Mouse.
3. Click the Buttons tab.
4. Under Button Assignment, click the box for a button to which you want to assign a function, and then click the function that you want to assign to that button.
5. Click Apply, and then click OK.
6. Close Control Panel.
You can change the mouse settings in Windows to swap the functions of the right and left mouse buttons, or to adjust the double-click speed.
Most gamers use the extra side buttons on their gaming controllers to perform quick weapon switches, melee attacks, reloading, throwing grenades, scoping, healing/health boosts, casting spells, and activating voice chat. Some gamers also use these buttons to access more items in their game.
If you want to use the Secondary click feature on your Magic Mouse, you’ll need to open the Apple icon in the Mac menu bar and select System Preferences. Then, select the Mouse icon and go to the Point & Click tab. Choose the check box next to Secondary click and indicate either the right or left side of the mouse surface for the secondary click. Finally, close System Preferences to save.
There are two possible solutions to this problem:
1. Check to see if your mouse buttons are recognized as individual buttons in your operating system’s settings. If they are not, you will need to reassign them as individual buttons.
2. If your mouse buttons are recognized as individual buttons, check to see if there are default actions assigned to them in the program you are trying to use them in. If there are no default actions assigned, you will need to create them.
The mouse side buttons are very useful and can be programmed to do anything. However, by default, the left-thumb button can go back on a web page. Using the thumb button makes browsing the Internet more efficient, because you do not need to move the mouse pointer to the browser’s back arrow button to go back a page.

macOS uses a “default side mouse button behavior” in which the bottom/back side button (M4) is represented by an orange circle, and the top/forward side button (M5) is represented by a blue circle. This behavior can be seen in the four windows already open in the video.
There are a few different ways that you can reassign buttons across all applications in Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center. The most basic method is to simply select the button that you want to reassign, and then select a command from the list. You can also disable a button completely if you don’t want it to do anything.
Secondary click is a mouse function that allows you to perform a right-click or left-click by pressing the left or right side of the mouse. This function can be enabled in the Mouse preferences in System Preferences.
If your mouse isn’t working properly, one troubleshooting step you can try is unplugging and re-plugging in the mouse. This can make sure the mouse connection is tight. If that doesn’t work, you can try restarting your computer. If the mouse still isn’t working after that, it’s possible that the mouse is damaged and the buttons aren’t working.

If the Razer Naga’s side buttons aren’t working, it could be because the Synapse application isn’t working properly. This can be resolved by clearing any and all connected memories in the software and then closing the application.
